JORDAN 'MAKES DREAMS COME TRUE’ FOR PEDIATRIC PATIENTS

NETS guard Jordan Farmar and his mother, Mindy Kolani, are bringing Farmar’s “Making Dreams Come True” program to New Jersey.

During the course of the NETS 2010-11 season, Farmar and Kolani will be giving children who are patients at Newark Beth Israel Hospital a special VIP experience at six NETS games at the Prudential Center. One child along with his or her family will be guests at each of the games. The program will start on Opening Night when the NETS host the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday, October 27.

In addition to purchasing eight tickets for each of the games, Farmar and Kolani will treat the families to round-trip car service, pre-game dinner at the Prudential Center, access to watch pre-game player shoot-around at courtside, a gift card for NETS store merchandise, and a post-game meet & greet with Farmar himself. Kolani will accompany the families throughout all of the pre- and post-game activities, as well as the game.

In 2005, Farmar and his mother launched the “Making Dreams Come True” program in conjunction with the UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles while Farmar was a star on UCLA’s basketball team. They continued the program while Farmar was a member of the Los Angeles Lakers from 2006-10. Now entering his first season with the NETS, Farmar and Kolani are bringing their commitment to children with them to the Garden State.

“My mom and I are looking forward to giving these children and their families a memorable experience during a difficult time,” said Farmar. “We hope that everyone enjoys themselves at the games and that the children receive a much-needed boost. We are thrilled to bring our program to New Jersey and to help put a smile on the children’s faces.”

The program is part of The Jordan Farmar Foundation, which aims to improve the lives of children through efforts that promote health, hope, and healing.
